I’ll be beta reading an old classmate’s manuscript, which means I get a sneak peek at what I’m sure will be an explosively good story. While most beta reads are watered-down, less good versions of the final product, my advisor in my MFA program was once describing this particular classmate’s writing and we were in agreement that it is basically perfect and needs no edits. BE JEALOUS!

Have you seen Beyond The Lights? I saw it a couple years back and this interview with lead Gugu Mbatha-Raw is a nice reminder of how much I liked that movie. It’s about a disenchanted popstar, and it’s sweet and sexy and has a lovely scene where she sheds her persona (literally). And yes, I liked the music, judge me. Be warned, though, there’s a spoiler for her upcoming historical movie right in the bloody intro!
